They Called His Name Jesus
Series Studies in Luke
92
The Gospel narrative found in Luke, chapter two, is far more than a retelling of the "Christmas Story." It is a proclamation that God has taken on humanity in order to redeem humanity and to make His own partakers in the divine nature (II Peter 1:4). The miracle of the incarnation involves union, God with man; a union that will never be separated. God saves, and He does so from within humanity, the humanity of Jesus. The Christian vocation then is that of union with Christ out from which we workout our salvation to the glory of the Father. We are accepted in the beloved, justified by grace, through faith in the One with whom we are in living union, by the Spirit, not the letter.
