And Great Grace Reveals Ananias and Sapphira as Pretenders (#6)
Series Book of Acts
GREAT GRACE REVEALS PRETENDERS: Ananias and Sapphira
Points:
I. An Eminent Example of Great Grace
II. A Sorry Example of Great Grace
III. The Subsequent Increase in True Conversions
In the middle of a time of unprecedented blessing and growth, God reveals the need for integrity and godly fear. We have the tragic story of Ananias and Sapphira.
They thought to get praise and recognition for men, instead of from God. They demonstrated their unregeneracy by being pretenders. No doubt they thought they had experienced grace and thought others were just like them... but they were revealed and struck down.
This event is an example of a representative judgment. It shows what each sin of this class and kind deserves. Though God does not judge it, it is to leave a deep impression. Worship and serve God with fear!
