REMNANT OF HER SEED: The woman represents all of Israel—both saved and lost. However, the remnant of the woman refers only to the saved Jews—those who have trusted in Christ as Saviour (after the Rapture). The Jews undoubtedly trusted Christ as Messiah and Saviour due to the preaching of God's witnesses—the 144,000, the Two Witnesses, and the angel proclaiming the everlasting gospel.
KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, AND HAVE THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST: The statement about keeping the commandments has led some to teach that this proves works-based salvation. The teaching follows the line of thinking that one is dependent upon keeping the commandments, whether the Ten or as the Talmud lists: all 613, yet many of the commandments (estimated at 271) cannot be observed because of the destruction of the Temple.
Keeping the commandments of God occurs thirteen times in the New Testament:
• Matthew: one time
• John: three times
• First Corinthians: one time
• First John: six times
• Revelation: two times
Revelation chapters 6 through 18 cover Daniel's Seventieth Week, and two verses in this section mention those who "keep the commandments of God" and refer directly to those living during those years, commonly called the Tribulation.
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
