Jesus and The Trinity - Part 5

201

The high note that is sounded from the opening words of this prologue, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (vs. 1.), reaches a crescendo of profound assertions in summary (vss. 14-18).
All the themes introduced in vss. 1-13 are reasserted with completed directness:

  1. The Divine Word who is life and light is made flesh.
  2. The prophet forerunner, John the Baptist, who reflects the true Light as a true witness asserts His superiority.
  3. The Divine Word revealed by grace must be received by faith as He is identified by name.

Vss. 14-18, The incarnation exclaims the Divine Word to be the God-man, Jesus Christ.
