Value of Open Rebuke

83

Open Rebuke...

Can I give you a little something to think about? A different thought from the one earlier today... a tool for your character building tool box?

Based on the feedback and attitudes of those at Corinth, Paul knew what was best for the church, at that time, was an open rebuke (Proverbs 27:5). He did it by repeating a question that went like this, "Did you not know...? Six times in two chapters he publicly and openly asked them six different questions about their obvious ignorance or blatant rebellion.

When's the last time you asked God to use someone to strike you? How long has it been since we sought a faithful friend of God to speak what we "need" to hear about our lives, rather than what we "want" to hear?

Let me explain? We need people in our lives that will tell us what we NEED to hear... and not just what we WANT to hear. No one has ever been REFINED for the GOOD of others, that didn't have someone shaping their character, correcting their flaws and developing their skills. I encourage you to NOT settle on surrounding yourselves with cheap grace or useless fluff... get around those who know the value of communicating grace and truth, who will not settle on telling you what you WANT to hear, but will share with you what you NEED to hear and honor.
