What Does It Mean To Be A Minister

Thesis: The term "minister" isn't exclusive to those "called" to pastoring - every believer according to the Bible is gifted to minister (serve) to others. In fact, as long as you are on Earth, that is what is expected of any Christian.

1. MINISTER BY EXAMPLE (v.12)

   • Whose example? Self re-made efforts or
     gospel-changed lives?
   • Behaviors in verse 12 driven by being fixed
     on gospel, not putting forth moral ideals:
     • speech = i.e. Ephesians 4:15,29
     • conduct = i.e. 1 John 1:9, Philippians 1:6
       God is conforming believer to His image
     • love = i.e. John 15:13. Bring sacrificial
       love (gospel) to others, esteem others more
       than self.Philippians 2:17, Colossians 1:24
       2 Corinthians 12:15

2. MINISTER BY THE WORD (v.13)

   • Source for all life ministry situations
   • Christ said all scripture was about him, so
     Word in ministry brings Jesus to every
     solution
