A Love for Christ

22

After three years of working alongside Jesus, his disciples have come to know and love him. And yet he has told them that he is going to be betrayed, is going to die, and is going away to be with the Father. There is confusion and consternation as Christ’s disciples grapple with the prospect of Christ’s departure. What will Christ say to comfort them? What does he offer them to assure them of his continued presence – even in his absence? And what does he expect of them? John 14 is part of the beginning of the second half of this gospel in which Christ’s hour is drawing near, and his disciples begin to learn what it truly means to love and follow him.
