The gospel of Mark opens with numerous references from Isaiah; and other Old Testament passages. Israel longed for their King to come. Mark is announcing the King is here. Though His kingdom might not be fulfilled how they had in mind. Rather, it was even greater. Jesus is David's greater Son and His rule is eternal.
