Paul's Rebuke and Exhortation

100

Paul's approach to the Corinthian objection to resurrection is wise and masterful. After showing them the grave implications of their position, he affirmed the fact of bodily resurrection in Jesus Christ and articulated the meaning and outcome of His resurrection. Then Paul reinforced his argument with a couple of practical considerations which support the truth of the saints' resurrection. Paul showed the Corinthians the absolute necessity and critical importance of resurrection in God's work in Christ, and having done so, he issued them a stern rebuke and exhortation: For all their confidence that they possessed mature insight, these doubting Corinthians were fools guilty of careless thinking and sin against the triune God, the gospel, one another, and their testimony in the world.
