God's Law Is the Standard For the Spirit's Sanctification

One of the functions of God's law once we have been justified by faith alone apart from the works of the law is that for the Christian it becomes the standard for our sanctification. One cannot define love apart from the law of God. The Holy Spirit empowers the Christian to love his neighbor as himself, which is conformity to the law of God. Love, law, and the Spirit are not opposites.
