Benediction: Source of Blessing

Benediction is to speak a good word or blessing. Although the actual word is not found in the Bible, the principle is found throughout Scripture. A benediction invokes God's name to perform all that God has promised, it is short and to the point, it is joyful, and it unites the body in patience and practice. God wants to bless His people and does bless His people in all things. As believers, we need His blessing to persevere. In this benediction God reveals Himself as the God of Peace, teaching us that He is the originator and the dispenser of true peace. This peace, which He provides replaces the inner struggles with tranquility, weaves our desires with His, making us one with His own, causing us to be in harmony with Him. One of the ways those who have true peace evidence it is by them pursuing peace with all men.
