Inroads of Heresies

Timothy has been left at Ephesus to deal with false teachers who have infiltrated the church. In all probability they were even amoung the elder leadership of that church. They were teaching doctrines that Paul said must be stopped so that the church continues to be a testimony for Christ. Heresy usually creeps into the church through teachers who claim to be helping to explain the word of God more clearly, showing how it is more relevant and applicable. The Gospel message preached today is being adjusted so it no longer is focused on Christ coming to suffer and die and deal with our sin and guilt before God. To be rather a means of our finding fulfillment and personal satisfaction. Personal fulfillment is not the basic issue addressed in the Gospel.
