In this 9th stanza of Psalm 119 begins the first of three stanzas that deal with trusting God in the midst of affliction and darkness. The theme of this first such stanza is, surprisingly, the goodness of God. God's goodness is exercised in and through affliction, and must be trusted in during the time of affliction.
