Lord's Day 43 Because our God is the God of truth we must always speak the truth

Because our God is the God of truth we must always speak the truth. We consider three points:

1. God the Son is the Truth
2. God the Father commands us to speak the truth
3. God the Holy Spirit guides us in that truth

Questions to think about during the sermon:
Introduction:
1 What kinds of things do people lie about? How do they (commonly) excuse these lies?
Point 1:
2 People can say ‘true things’ while they do not know ‘the truth’. What is ‘the truth’?
3 According to the apostle Paul, what is the (only) right way to speak the truth?
Point 2:
4 With what does God compare gossiping and slandering?
5 In what way is the sail on a sailing ship similar to our tongues?
Point 3:
6 How does the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, guide us in the truth?
