God's Law Never Saved

68

The Law states God's righteous demands and commands, yet man is completely incapable of fulfilling the demands of the Law.

The sinner today desires to DO something, or GIVE something, or BE something in order to be justified.

Naaman is a great O.T. example: 2 Kings 5:13

It was humbling for Naaman to have to wash himself in the river Jordan.

The Bible is clear about the way to Heaven--it is BY and THROUGH Jesus Christ and Him alone.

Consider Jesus' response to the rich man in Mark chapter 10. Instead of simply telling the man to believe, Christ attacks the root of the problem.

Mark 10:17 ... Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

Mark 10:18 ...Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Jesus quotes to him the 10 Commandments leaving out the 10th commandment because he knew the man was guilty of coveting.

Luke 10:20 -- the man said he observed all those mentioned from his youth.

Jesus told him to sell all that he has, not to gain eternal life, but because he trusted in those riches.

Here is the KEY:

Mark 10:24 ...Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

Those trusting in something outside of Jesus will not trust only in the Saviour for salvation.

John 5:24
Colossian 1:12-13
Colossians 1:14
1 Corinthians 15:22
2 Corinthians 5:17
2 Corinthians 1:22
2 Corinthians 5:5
Ephesians 1:13-14
1 Corinthians 6:20
Ephesians 4:30
Philippians 3:20-21

Redemption takes place in two stages. The soul and the spirit are cut away from the body at salvation. The body is redeemed on the day of redemption.
