#16 An Inheritance by Grace

We live in a cynical world. We have become a people of skeptics. Did the Israelites feel any of this skepticism and doubt? God is faithful to his word. God promised Abraham that his children would be as numerous as the sands and God told Abraham that they would inherit the Promised Land. In Joshua 13:7 we have God declaring through Moses to the 9-1/2 tribes, "This is your inheritance. Go and take it." God will complete what He has started. The inheritance comes from God. It is very easy to live by sight, instead of by faith. Israel was going to face a difficulty in the near future. God was preparing them for it. So Joshua's retirement was going to be a test of faith for Israel. Was their faith in Joshua, or was their faith in Joshua's God?
