A call to prayer

What we think of God is revealed in how we pray. How we pray reveals what we think of God: What is his nature and his character? What is his heart toward his people?

In Psalm 81.10, the Lord wants his people to know who he is, and to pray accordingly. God provides, first, a profound reminder from the past, with notes of assurance and warning.

The Lord then issues a pressing exhortation for the present to feel our need, express our desires, and expect our blessing.

Finally, God holds out a precious promise for the future, of an abundant supply of every needful and many desirable things from the great and good God to whom we call.
