Elisha and Rainbows? When you talk about Elisha you have to talk about Rainbows

277

At the beginning of the sermon we now have the traditional reading of the letters from our Internet congregation. We have a question from David in Nebraska. Next we have a question from Yvonne from Brazil. “By being grafted in are we now Jews?”

Now we return to Elijah in 2 Kings 2, and that leads us to Elisha. Pastor says when you talk about Elisha you eventually have to talk about Rainbows.

Then he asks, are you aware of the “do you not knows?” I’ll let you listen to this one, rather than trying to explain it.

Now on to Rainbows and Elisha. We take seeing for granted. We have degrees of seeing, of hearing, of smelling. So today we're going to talk a little about the physics of sight... and the physics of light. Seeing is an extraordinary event. We see in our mind. So, if we see in our mind, do we feel in our mind?

And now on to questions concerning rainbows. If a rainbow cannot be seen by a dog, does it exist to the dog? A dog can see a ski racer on TV and perceive it as a threat. So if dogs don't see some things, are there things we can't see? And if we can't see it does that mean it does not exist?

Perception does in fact determine reality in the mind of the person who perceives it. It's a mind function. We are our thoughts, our mind. And we are known before we have a body.

In 2 Kings 6:14-18, he got to see the supernatural realm. Now he knows both realms exist. And now, his thoughts are not like our thoughts... Thank goodness!

Finally... Elisha has 42 men who are there to kill him. And just like Elijah, they mock him as well. Pastor is going to compare this with Matthew 27:39-43. And Psalm 22 is a rebuttal to this from Christ Himself.
