The city of Babel was built by Nimrod (Genesis 10:8-10). It has flourished for thousands of years in opposition to God and His people. It has been temporarily judged in the past, but it will once more flourish as a world power and ultimately receive a permanent, devastating punishment, and never be inhabited again.
