REDEMPTIVE HISTORY PAUSES FOR GOSPEL PREACHING

Points:
I. The Reality of the Gospel
II. The Message of the Gospel
III. The Implication of the Gospel

With this lesson, we are beginning a series on the Book of Acts. I expect we will take a few church year breaks for Christmas and Easter and such, but the Book of Acts is the rich foundation which is critical for a proper understanding of the New Testament

Acts 3 is the first of several chapters that describe the development and early history of the N.T. Church. The Apostle's main task was to be witnesses to risen and ascended Lord Jesus Christ (see Acts 1:8). They were to do this in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and unto the ends of the earth.

Well, their witness to Christ in Jerusalem is the subject at hand. Acts 3 begins with a healing, but the focus is not on the healing, but the events that take place after. The focal of point of the Church is now to witness of the risen Christ.

The sermon title is "Redemptive History Pauses for the Preaching of the Gospel." After Jesus work was completed He tasked his apostles and the church with Gospel ministry. Gospel ministry is essentially the administration of the means of Grace... preaching of the Word and the adminstration of the Sacraments.

This "pause" will last until Christ returns to judge the living and the dead.
