“The Covenant Pleaded”
Series C.H. Spurgeon Sermon Reviews
39
Charles Spurgeon delivered this sermon in 1879. The sermon could be subtitled, “How to improve your prayer life”. God’s servant sought to instruct his hearers to use the example of Asaph’s pleadings with God as an example of how an effective tool might be implemented in our praying. Effective prayer can include righteous, reverent arguments, as Asaph demonstrated. The New Covenant is useful to that end.
His outline: 1. What is meant by the plea, 2. From where does it derive its force, 3. How and when that covenant may be pleaded, 4. Practical inferences.
“Have respect unto the Covenant.” Ps 74:20
