The Promise to Abraham

Aim: To wonder at and experience the supernatural promises of God.

The miraculous nature of God's promises demonstrates what only the Lord can do, and makes sure that the Lord gets the glory.

Exegesis: The beautiful way of God's promises: they are always very personal (vv. 1-5), they involve us in their excitement (vv. 6-8), they overcome our weaknesses (vv. 9-12), and they are based entirely on the power of God (vv. 13-15).

Further application: How to approach God's promises: prepare our hearts, with humility; and expect their fulfillment, with anticipation.
