Prophecy to Overthrow Damascus and Samaria

Isaiah's prophecy of the overthrow of Damascus and Samaria. Because Ahaz king of Judah refused the offer of a sign by the prophet Isaiah, now the prophet by the Word of the Lord gives a sign to all to know, as he also is instructed to write it in a scroll for a permanent record. This prophecy would not only show the way for the hand of the Lord to be revealed against the kings of Damascus and Samaria, but Ahaz would now know that he acted foolishly to reject the counsel of the prophet. The prophecy as set forth between chaper 7 and 8 may be also viewed as a near and far fulfillment of prophecy as it would not only relate to the nation of Israel in their own day but the long rang prophecy of the coming day of the the Messiah. For the sake of this message I will keep to the history of Israel, but also make some application about our own counry which is steadily heading in the same destructive path as was Isreal in Isaiah's day before it was judged and lead off into captivity, lost it national soveignity, freedom and standing with God. The hope Isaiah gives is that he points to a holy remnant; that they should find their preservation and hope in keeping the Word of God and knowing His salvation. We must also have hope and faith to believe that God is preserving a people for himself in our nation, and means to use his people for his glory. Sanctify the LORD of host himself, and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread....Bind the testimony; seal the law among my disciples....
