Why did God write Colossians?

Three themes for Colossians are identified. The supremacy of Christ, the Church as part of God's plan, and sanctification of the believer. As Paul prays for the Colossians he sets and an example for all believers to know and pray for God's will in the people of his church. Believers should pray for those in their charge, that God would be first in their lives, that during suffering he would draw us close, and that those that don't know God would be saved.
