Abimelech -- The Man Who Would Be King

The account of Abimelech takes up an entire chapter of Judges. He was not a judge, nor a godly man. Instead, his story is a dark one in Israel's history -- showing the perversion and evil that comes from idolatry. There are few historical/redemptive lessons here. But there is an abundance of moral lessons, and the law of sowing and reaping is very evident, like it is in the account of Haman in the Book of Esther.
