Psalm 6 - 1st Version
PLAYFORD | Long Meter (8,8,8,8)
Playford's Psalms, 1671
1 ¶ O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. 2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. 3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? 4 Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake. 5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? 6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. 7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies. 8 ¶ Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping. 9 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer. 10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
1 LORD, in thy wrath rebuke me not; Nor in thy hot rage chasten me. 2 Lord, pity me, for I am weak: Heal me, for my bones vexed be. 3 My soul is also vexed sore; But, Lord, how long stay wilt thou make? 4 Return, O Lord, my soul set free; O save me for thy mercies' sake. 5 Because those that deceased are Of thee shall no remembrance have; And who is he that will to thee Give praises lying in the grave? 6 I with my groaning weary am, And all the night till morn appears, Through grief I make my bed to swim, And water all my couch with tears. 7 Mine eye, consumed with grief, grows old, Because of all mine enemies. 8 Hence from me, evil-doers all; For God hath heard my weeping cries. 9 God hath my supplication heard; By him my prayer received shall be. 10 Shamed and sore vexed be all my foes, Turned back and shamed suddenly.
