HOSEA 14:4-8 [1] CONSIDER THE GEOGRAPHY OF OUR TEXT DEUTERONOMY 11 ~ 10For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden; 11but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, 12a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year. Here in this Psalm, in verse 4, the Lord God is described as the Keeper of Israel. We know that these verses, which speak of His keeping, relate to us Gentiles just as much as the Jews, because Jesus Christ has broken down the barrier between Jew and Gentile and has made us into one spiritual people. Since this is the case, we can apply these verses to ourselves, because we know that through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are a part of God's spiritual Israel. The Lord's keeping of His people is described for us here, in three wonderful ways. 1st – The Lord God is always there to keep your foot from slipping. (verse 3) 2nd – The Lord God is continually protecting you through the Mediation of His Son. (verses 4-7) And 3rd – The Lord God is continually guarding your going out and your coming in. (verse 8) As I relate these to you, I would have you to remember that the Lord Jesus died in order that these things could become a reality in your everyday experience.

The old things and new things are the teaching of both Old Testament and the New. Teaching the good Old Paths of the Old Testament Scriptures, which set the stage for the coming of Christ and the fulfillment of the Law. Teaching faith in Christ which puts a new song in your mouth, a song of praise to God for the great redemption in Christ, and how by believing in Christ and following Christ, we will become doers of the Lord and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.

Having given instructions to husbands and wives concerning their responsibilities to each other, Paul now turns his attention to the children in the family. The Lord has many good things to give to the children through their parents. And this is why Paul says that they should obey them. At this time I would like to explain what kind of obedience this is. 1st of all – The Obedience of children to their parents in the Lord is a right obedience. 2nd – It is an obedience which honors your father and mother. And 3rd – It is an obedience where you will be rewarded by God Himself, according to His promise, with long life. So let's think together now about the great importance which obedience to father and mother are, to the children of the family, and indeed to all of our society as well, in relation to these points.

Are you thankful, even now, for the precious and powerful working of the Holy Spirit in your life, dear Christian? Now, at this time, we want to look at the grace of peace. The fruit of the Spirit is peace. We want to see 1st of all – That our experience of peace is based upon Christ's death and resurrection. And then, 2nd – We want to see that having this grace of peace, leads us then, to be peacemakers in relation to people around us.
