Question – For a sinner to come to Christ what does he have to have spiritually if he is going to going to be saved? What did Zacchaeus have to do here? Answer: He has to have a sight of Jesus. He has to get to the place, either go to a church, or to read the Bible, or to talk to someone who knows Jesus, if he would be saved. Zacchaeus had to climb the tree to see Him because he was short of stature. Question – What does a sinner need to do nowadays, according to verses 5 and 6, to be saved? Answer: He needs to make haste to come down from his high view of things and receive Jesus with joy.

Several worldviews are competing with Christmas for the affection of our hearts and minds. This message explores consumerism and materialism. Our salvation and true satisfaction is found in Christ, our Savoir. Even God uses material things to encourage, guide, and protect us, but we worship the God who gives us things. We do not worship the things.

Jesus is here seeking to justify to these scribes and Pharisees the reason why He would associate with tax collectors and unworthy sinners of the worst sort. It was so that they might be found by Him and saved by Him. This is why He was receiving them to have an audience with Himself. This parable is set in the context of the words of verses 1 and 2. They say – "Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him." "And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, 'This Man receives sinners and eats with them." This was the reason that Jesus spoke this parable to them. It was because they were complaining about His associating with sinners. But He Himself was seeing them as lost sheep. That was the reason that He told them this parable.

What are we to see in creation and providence? Psalm 104:27–30 prepares us for the opening portion of public worship on the Lord's Day. In these four verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that a believer obtains much joy and hope by recognizing that providence is carried out personally and powerfully by the Lord Himself.

Proof that one truly loves Christ is seen in one's carefully keeping His ways. If You Love Christ, Keep His Commandments.

This week we continue in Thessalonians with Paul's prayer to the Lord regarding his request for them to grow in Love toward one another and the others. We move to the 13th verse and discuss how the increase of love for others is an integral part of the Lord establishing our hearts in holiness. We discuss holiness in our lives and at his coming. We take a little time to discuss the phrase "coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints" and some controversy surrounding an understanding of it. We move onto a new short prayer of Paul. A declaration that the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, digging into the meaning of the concept of grace.

Christ's Office and Work is shown in the prologue to be greater than than of Moses. He has explained God to us. He the fulfillment of all the Old Testament Shadows and Types. John sees Jesus coming towards him and he says - Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The question that everyone asks is what did John mean by this? John as a prophet spoke better than he knew, of the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. The great privilege that we have is to know the fulfillment of these things to ourselves. We were not created to sin, but fell into it in and with Adam. God makes a covenant of grace in the garden. But how is God going to be faithful to all of His righteousness and justice? He will do so in the giving of His Son. He provided the Lamb.

God gives us His name - I AM who I Am, Pharaoah said - Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice? I do not know Him. But there is no one like Him. His mercy is independent and Moses understands something of this. He made haste to bow down and worship. We see that He proclaims His name. His name is His existence. His actions are the very same as His existence. He is also independent in His life and in His will and His love. Indpendent in His power, His counsel, and His intellect also.

Having given instructions to husbands and wives concerning their responsibilities to each other, Paul now turns his attention to the children in the family. The Lord has many good things to give to the children through their parents. And this is why Paul says that they should obey them. At this time I would like to explain what kind of obedience this is. 1st of all – The Obedience of children to their parents in the Lord is a right obedience. 2nd – It is an obedience which honors your father and mother. And 3rd – It is an obedience where you will be rewarded by God Himself, according to His promise, with long life. So let's think together now about the great importance which obedience to father and mother are, to the children of the family, and indeed to all of our society as well, in relation to these points.
