When pain is prolonged, it increases a person's vulnerability to believing anything that might offer relief or escape. The Gospel accounts are replete with vivid depictions of people who endured unrelenting chronic pain. One man in particular had been unable to walk for nearly 40 years. His suffering had opened him up to the allure of superstitious myths and the false promises of ancient mysticism. Join us as we examine the true historical account of this man's personal encounter with Jesus.
Is the # 13 bad luck? We don't believe in blind luck and the number 13 has no inherent powers to begin with. We discuss the negative connotations of the number 13 in Scripture as opposed to any sort of power as believed by the superstitious.

We return to our gospel worship series by turning to Exodus 32 to see that the imposition of new holy days (Exodus 32:5) by church leaders and not God is outside the power of the church. In the New Testament, only a single holy day remains - the weekly Sabbath. Leaders in the Church must extirpate all other impositions, as men like Moses and Hezekiah removed the corruptions of worship that entered the Church in their time. Preached from Exodus 32:5.
Why did God kill thirty-four thousand (and two!) Israelites? 1Samuel 4:1–11 looks forward to the first reading in morning public worship on the coming Lord's Day. In these eleven verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that in all things, God acts for His own glory, especially avenging Himself upon manmade worship and religion.
Jesus investigates His church in Pergamos an writes a letter to them. He holds a sharp two edged sword of judgement in His hand and He examines their work. Before He does that, He examines the city where Satan's throne is. There was a medicine school where superstition and medicine was mixed; much like traditional healers are acknowledged as medical doctors in South Africa. The serpent was their symbol as it is today. Pergamos was a cult haven.
