Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Romans 8:35–39 looks forward to the midweek sermon. In these five verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, because Christ is God, and all things are for His sake.
On the Last Day, when Christ returns, the angels will have the responsibility to separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. They will have perfect understanding of just what persons are wicked, and just what persons will have been righteous. They will make no mistake with either.
The purpose of The LORD God was to destroy Babylon, in order to uphold His covenant promise to His people.
God does not forsake His people, but rather takes action to defeat our enemies and to vindicate us! (v.1-11)
God takes differentiating action because God and we are everything to one another; He is our portion, and we are His inheritance! (v.12-24)
The LORD's purposes stand - both against Babylon and for His people. (v.25-33)
When God is admitting people, what will happen to us?
The world is passing away; what about us? Mt. 3:12, 1 John 2:17
Who has all the authority and strength? 1 Cor. 1:25, Ps. 137:1-9
Why is there vengeance for God's temple? Rev. 11:1-19
The concept of "identity" (and of changing your identity) has been a fascination of society for a long time. But the most important "changed identity" is that which is brought about by the Gospel - people who were hostile against God and doing evil are now reconciled and holy. In this sermon, Pastor Jesse walks us through Col. 1:21-23, which teaches us the amazing realities of the believer's former identity and its contrast to our new identity. Discover who you were before and who you now are in Christ, and be amazed at the One whose death brings transformation.
Purity means clean, not mixed with any other thing or substance. We can understand this truth in the physical realm. All sickness and disease is caused by something in our body that is not supposed to be there. Contaminates, pollution, infection by germs, viruses, or bacteria result in sickness and even death. In the spiritual realm it is much the same. Unclean spirits are mentioned more than any other in the Bible. Wickedness, sin, and evil are contagious and when we gaze upon it with our eyes and ears something filthy enters our mind and heart. Until the people who are called Christians separate themselves from the filth of this world and all its sources things are going to continue to get worse. The work of God is suffering greatly because of the sin and immorality that is commonly found in the churches.
In this message we begin exploring how we are created for a purpose by God. Today we focused on Salvation and being a new creation in Christ and how each person who is alive has been created for a purpose. Next week we will look at how we discover His purpose for us.
🗡️ Sermon delivered at Pilgrim Baptist Church on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at 2:15 pm. 🗡️
An expository sermon is based on Romans 8:38-39.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ!
Covered By His Righteousness. Eph. 6:14b,;Isa. 59:16-17;2 Cor. 6:14-7:1;Lev. 10:10-11It is natural to want to show the whole world what we or our loved ones have accomplished, whether it is running a marathon, our kids' academic achievements, or any job well done. Working hard to accomplish something requires great discipline. However, we need something greater than our own efforts to live a truly abundant life. We need Jesus' help. For example, it is natural for us to push back when told we should place a priority on taking care of our physical bodies first, in order to fully serve God and those around us. We live in a time when we feel helpless and vulnerable. The human heart desires to be safe, but in a world full of conflict, especially spiritual conflict, the only safe place is in Christ!Because Christ's righteousness does differ so much from what the world would call righteousness it is imperative that our relationships, especially those which are close, are built on equal ground with others who also are clothed upon with Christ's righteousness.

We should be secure in the love that Christ has for us. This security will enable us to serve Him not out of a place of anxious fear of punishment, but a place of adoration, praise, worship, and love for the one who first loved us.
Elkanah was a man with two wives. Two not so very separate families. Twice the women in his life and seemingly clueless about how the one family was doing. In fact he failed at keeping the second wife under control and it was hurting his beloved wife without him realizing it.

The epistle is written from Babylon and to the dispersion of the Jews and also to those Gentiles who would hear this letter. He explains this unique relationship, elect, sanctified by the Spirit and who were obedient to the gospel of Christ, then Peter add by the Sprinkling of the Blood of Jesus.
