In this message, we continue answering some objections that many use to justify "holy" lying. We deal with the objection that lying is just like killing (concluding that there is a time to lie). The message looks at the fact that often it is right to withhold information, while not lying. It concludes with an admonition for us all, not to be silent in regard to prayer, and in regard to sharing the Gospel! And we also shouldn't be silent in regard to speaking up for others, unjustly accused, etc.!

Proverbs 26:20-22; Romans 1:28-32; 2 Corinthians 13:5 If we can't say something good about someone, we need to be quiet. We can't make ourselves look better by tearing someone else down. If we are a Christian people ought to look at us and know we treasure not only our reputations but that of those around us.

Everything secret will be made known... now, or later.

God sees it all. Beware of secret sins.

Man needs to be reminded that he is not in charge. Proud men need to be humbled at times. God has a way of doing this that is very effective. He does so to give them the opportunity to turn to Him and know Him. Often they refuse to do that, but they will be sorry one day.

We should beware of becoming a talebearer and beware of befriending a talebearer. The choice is between the one who will betray your trust and a faithful friend that you can count on to keep private matters private. This starts with several illustrations of how people use each other, some intentional, some unintentional and also how we use our family without realizing it. Then it moves on to the pertinent question, have you ever made God feel used. There are many places in scripture that tell us how God feels when we try to use Him, but they are seldom noticed. We have the same idea about God that children have about their parents. Parents are providers, protectors, rule makers, law enforcers and educators that love us, but instead of returning that love with a sense of appreciation we circumvent their efforts and get away with what we want in secret. Making matters worse, our nature is one of rebellion that manifests itself when we don't get what we want. We become sullen or peevish to show our displeasure with those in charge. God deals differently with us than our parents and especially those who become born again into His family through the miracle of salvation. His purpose in giving us freedom is to expose our will. Will we choose what He wants or what we want? This was the choice God gave Adam and Eve and the one gives each one of us daily.
