Luke 22:63-23:25 – Blasphemy True and False – Sermon Outline
Intro: Blasphemy is to speak ill of, or regard lightly, God Almighty. Blasphemers have a low and negative view of God and His people, and because God is Lord and demands obedience, they hate Him/His people.
Need: Blasphemers are under Satan's power, and can be found inside and outside the Church, as we see Jew and Gentile converge in an unholy, blasphemous, greedy, self-preserving alliance to crucify Christ.
Theme: Blasphemers hate Christ and His people and will do anything to destroy them.
The Jewish leaders mock and mistreat Christ, then charge Him with blasphemy in a sham trial.
The Jewish blasphemers take Christ to Pilate and claim Christ is seditious against the Romans.
Pilate and Herod pass Christ between each other, mocking Him, while becoming friends.
Pilate caves to the Jewish crowds demanding Christ be crucified despite His innocence.
