Message 2 of a 3 part series on the Christian Armor listed by Paul in Ephesians 6. The armor can be seen as defensive weapons and defensive-offensive weapon. This message looks at the what the solider wears next to his body for protection from the enemy's assaults. . 14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. This are then followed by the weapons he takes up in times of actual combat.
What is the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness and the shoes of the gospel of peace?
Why is it so dreadful to trust and delight in creatures? Isaiah 31–32 prepares us for the first serial reading in public worship on the Lord's Day. In these twenty-nine verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that trusting and delighting in creatures is foolish, not only because of how devastatingly they will fail us, but because the Lord is an infinitely able Helper and an infinitely pleasant Delight.

Before one can understand and interpret the various pieces of armor he must consider the whole suit on the Christian. In 1 Corinthians 3:1-4, the apostle Paul tells the Corinthian church they need to keep growing in the Lord rather than conforming to their culture. Pastor Bessett preaches when we have the righteousness of Christ imputed to us and have been forgiven of all our sins, we must put on the mind of Christ and practice self-denial. We must not become stagnant in our spiritual growth and maturity.
"I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, for you are still of the flesh."
There was little in the Old Testament priesthood which spoke of joy. All of our entrances unto God were bought with the blood of the innocent, and the whole system was designed to keep us at a safe distance from God… close enough to worship when commanded, far enough to escape destruction… But of joy, deep and profound; of joy, strong and insurmountable; of joy, empowering and uplifting; of joy beyond us and within us very little was known in the Old Testament. But in the coming of Christ, joy is both the commandment AND the reality. It is the flavor of our experience with Christ, for just as His life is ours, His joy is ours!
