Its Not About Me, Myself or I. 1 Samuel 24:1-15 When Relationships Collide: Thriving in the Midst of Conflict.David retreats to a place called Engedi. Engedi means "spring of the goat or spring of climbers or leapers." This place was 200 yards from the Dead Sea on the center of the western shore. An abundance of palm trees use to be here. This oasis had luxurious vegetation watered by fresh water springs and waterfalls. Saul thought he was in control and secure, but in reality David is the one who is in control. David has the power to destroy the king. The tables have been turned. If David kills Saul, he would be king! He and his 600 men would be free from persecution, suffering, and a fugitive life.Have you been hurt, slandered, or verbally attacked? Here is what you can do? 1. Respond with humility and graciousness. 2. Speak the truth and give evidence of your integrity with your words and actions. 3. Make sure your conscience is clear of any offenses and seek forgiveness for any wrongs. 4. Look at your offender as God's tool to develop character in your life. Someone said, "God gives us motivation to push us. He gives us friends to push us to our potential. He gives us enemies to push us beyond our potential." God is using Saul to develop in David's life traits like humility, faith, trust in God, self-control, patience, forgiveness, and long suffering.
