The church this side of heaven is always the church MILITANT. But how often are Christians known as peacemakers? And how do you put together the call to be pure and holy and also to be a peacemaker in every level of your interaction with others. This probing sermon addresses these issues and so many others. In these thirty verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that one great difference between the people of the Lord and the people of the world is that the Lord's people are committed to purity in nakedness and marriage.

The work of building up God's church requires accountability. Living in community means that we have to help each other along the path of sanctification. That means that encouraging correction is required. However, the correction must be carried out with a sense of family in mind.

"Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness". Holiness in God's people is a reflective beauty of the character of our Maker and Saviour. A beauty the unbeliever does not value, but a beauty that does not fade, fully satisfies and brings God glory.

The contrast between Samuel and Eli's sons does more than warn us against the way of the wicked. It also reminds us that God is at work behind the scenes, so that even amid wickedness and unbelief there is always hope for grace.
