Daniel understood the time he was living in. He believed the Word of God and this guided him in his response. He understood as well that there was a need to acknowledge sin and seek God's forgiveness.

Puritan Reformed Presby Church - John 18:36-40; Luke 17:20-21
Christ's present, personal identity in His Self-revelation as King and Savior is missed by most. Don't Miss Jesus in Your Midst.

In the morning we will look ahead to the incarnation and virgin birth of our Savior by seeing some of the results of His arrival as promised in Isaiah 40.1, 2. This is one place GF Handel drew from for part of The Messiah, but it is also foundational for one of the hymns in our Blue Psalter. This text should make for a very helpful start to our Advent focus this year.Scripture Reading: Isaiah 39.1 – 40.2
Text: Isaiah 40.1, 2
Message: "The Comfort of His Arrival"
Theme: The Lord commands His prophets to tell of perfect Comfort to come
This Word is clearly from the covenant God
This Word will come tenderly from Him through His prophets
This Word will tell the people that the war is over
This Word will extol the full salvation in the arrival of the Messiah
I. Where is the leading of the Holy Spirit.
A. In true missionaries for Christ.
B. Not in false prophets.
II. What the Holy Spirt leads to.
A. Confronting of evil.
B. Conversion to Christ.

In this passage, James gives us many imperatives and illustrations to consider when we are going through injustice. Although it will be challenging, true believers will strive to be patient in every trial until the return of their Savior, who will bless their endurance.

The Minor Prophets can be viewed as one whole rather than twelve individual books. The key theme of the Book of the Twelve is the Day of the LORD.

Who is the Messiah? Jesus warned that "...many will come in My name, saying 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many." (Mt. 24:4,5) Through the genealogy that Matthew records we learn that Jesus Christ is the rightful heir to the throne of Israel, the One to which the Old Testament points and the One Who came to identify with sinners! Stop and see that Jesus Christ is the true Messiah!

Theologian Dr. John Whitcomb brings the final message in his series, "Viewing Christ in the Scriptures," on this week's edition of "Encounter God's Truth."
God's Word is true from the beginning to the end. Jesus demonstrated this when He taught about Himself—surveying the Old Testament—in an incident recorded in Luke 24. We have used this study to help prepare for Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas this year.
In this lesson we apply what we have learned previously and focus on the response that Jesus' teaching later received from three apostles—John, Peter and Paul.
Finally, host Wayne Shepherd asked Dr. Whitcomb why it was necessary that Jesus rose physically from the dead and how that truth should impact our lives today.
A blessed Advent season from "Encounter God's Truth"! May this year's celebration be both memorable and meaningful for you.

How does the Lord show mercy to those who prefer human wisdom to God's authoritative Word? Isaiah 30 prepares us for the first serial reading in public worship on the Lord's Day. In these thirty-three verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that if men prefer their own wisdom to God's Word, it is a mercy when God visits their plans with devastating failure.

A sermon based on 1 Peter 1:10-12, and preached at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Sewickley, PA, during the evening Worship Service on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Verse by verse exposition of the book of 2 Kings. 2 Kgs 9:30 Now when Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window. 31 Then, as Jehu entered at the gate, she said, "Is it peace, Zimri, murderer of your master?" 32 And he looked up at the window, and said, "Who is on my side? Who?" So two or three eunuchs looked out at him. 33 Then he said, "Throw her down." So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses; and he trampled her underfoot. 34 And when he had gone in, he ate and drank. Then he said, "Go now, see to this accursed woman, and bury her, for she was a king's daughter." 35 So they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. 36 Therefore they came back and told him. And he said, "This is the word of the Lord, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 'On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel; 37 and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, "Here lies Jezebel." 2 kgs 10:1 Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote and sent letters to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to those who reared Ahab's sons, saying: 2 Now as soon as this letter comes to you, since your master's sons are with you, and you have chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and weapons, 3 choose the best qualified of your master's sons, set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house. 4 But they were exceedingly afraid..."

Today on "Encounter God's Truth," Bible scholar Dr. John Whitcomb takes us back to the resurrection account in Luke chapter 24 for the third message in a series called, "Viewing Christ in the Scriptures."
On the basis of Jesus' method of teaching about Himself, we turn to the Minor Prophets to learn more about our Savior—"The Lamb of God." We can do so because God's Word is true from the beginning to the end.
Host Wayne Shepherd also asked Dr. Whitcomb how we can counter the growing lack of interest in serious Bible study.
Focusing on Christ is a wonderful way to maintain a mindset of Thanksgiving. Thank you for doing so with "Encounter God's Truth."

The Protestant Reformation recovered a number of fundamental truths. These are expressed in the five solas. At the foundation of the recovery of the gospel was the recover of God's Word to the people in translations based on the Greek and Hebrew, read and preached. All doctrine taught must be based on the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. This podcast looks at four statements of the Reformers and one from today. God's Word of the Holy Bible as the supreme and sufficient authority was recovered. We must guard this truth in all generations.

Chilliwack Canadian Reformed - 2 Peter 1:12-2:3; Deuteronomy 4:5-20
