The Lord gives us a picture of the ministration of the gospel word to feed, nourish and refresh the people of God. All whom the Lord brings into his local assemblies are to be given the gospel word. It is under the declaration of Christ crucified that the weary sinner finds rest from their labors and forgiveness of sins.
A man was shot in the head outside of Phoenix for preaching the Gospel on the street. Nigeria is now considered the "Most Dangerous Place" to be a Christian. Hate crimes against Christians in Europe has jumped by 44 percent in just one year...These were headlines last week in the news. How should the Church handle persecution? We see here in this passage the proper response to persecution. Preach the Word in season and out of season.
What has turned foolish rebels into careful maintainers of good works? Titus 3:3–8 prepares us for the second serial reading in public worship on the Lord's Day. In these six verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that righteous works do not come from righteous works, but from divine kindness and mercy that necessarily produces righteous works.
Becoming a minister is a stewardship from God. We are servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful, it says in 1st Corinthians 4: 1 and 2. And so, at this time, I want to give a charge to you, Ed, and also to you, my brethren, in relation to his future ministry among us. I pray Ed's ministry will being glorifying to God and that it will edify all of Christ's dear people in this place.
There are certain things which I would have us all to remember which come to us from these words of Paul to Timothy. 1st of all – We should all remember the importance of the preaching of the word. (verses 1-4) 2nd – We should all remember to be watchful and fight the good fight of faith. (verses 5-7) And 3rd – We should all remember the crown of righteousness which Christ will give to those who are faithful. (verses 8)
The relation of Brethren in the Body of Christ is that we all need prayer and we all need God's grace in regards to our speech. Paul speaks of continuing in prayer, watching in prayer and thanksgiving. Additionally we need God's grace in regards to fulfilling our Lord's Commission to his Church to preach the Gospel to all nations.
We are living in an age where it seems everyone has something to report. Many are accusing others of "Fake News." It is obvious that, with all of the contradictions, someone is lying – someone is mistaken. God's truth has always been treated with suspicion, if not deliberately ignored or suppressed. Has the Son of God revealed Himself to you?
What is the news of the kingdom like? Matthew 4:12–25 looks forward to the morning sermon on the coming Lord's Day. In these fourteen verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us the news of the kingdom is good news because the requirement that it demands is given by the great King Himself .
