Why does God redeem sinners? Psalm 105 prepares us for the opening portion of public worship on the Lord's Day. In these forty-five verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that God redeems sinners to display His glory in faithfulness, power, mercy, generosity, and wisdom.

The Creator of all the universe has given us a gift to be able to communicate with Him and express our needs and concerns and yet, prayer is often under-utilized by the people of God. Be fervent in prayer and accomplish much to the glory of God.

Is my heart crying, not my will, but thine be done?" This should always be the cry of our hearts in our prayers unto our Father and our God! That shows sincere and genuine humility and submission to God's will and not yours. That's why it's so good for you to keep Matthew 6 and Luke 11 close to your heart before and when you pray. The great work Nehemiah was to do began first with prayer. Confession and repentance was a necessary part of the restorative work of Nehemiah and the nation of Israel.

I. Pray... …for fellow believers that they would, by God's grace, be a blessing to others through their godly behavior, since the Lord's eyes are upon the righteous and His ear is open to their prayers. 1 Pet 3:8-13 (quotes Psa 34:12-16 in vv10-12) II. Prominently Note… A proper spiritual diet not only includes daily Bible reading and prayer, but both are supplemented by regular attendance in a local congregation. Without fellowship with likeminded believers, our understanding of Scripture will be perverted; and moreover, our prayer lives will be weakened since we will not be able to pray passionately, convincingly with conviction "OUR Father…" "Give US… OUR" "Forgive US OUR" "Lead US" "Deliver US". (see Heb 10:24-25) While SermonAudio, YouTube, Radio, television and recorded sermons are good and useful, they can never replace our need for actually being spiritually fed in fellowship with other believers from Spirit-filled preaching in the obedient attendance of Spirit-filled believers. This is why "Internet Church" is a form of apostasy. To substitute church attendance for these aforementioned mediums is not only open disobedience to the Lord's command to gather, but is particularly antichrist which the denies the harmonious gospel of eternal fellowship (viz. eternal communion in the Tri-une God; also the incarnation of God in Christ to fellowship among fallen mankind; etc.)

Devotional for Midweek Prayer Meeting * Pray… …when you know of a fellow believer suffering (1 Cor 12:26); and when you are cheerful, praise prayerfully in song to the Lord (Eph 5:19). James 5:13-15 (emphasizing v13; see 1 Cor 12:26; Eph 5:19) …for humility to call upon church leadership for prayers when you are sick, depressed, troubled, confused, have sinned, lack understanding from a portion of God's Word, etc. James 5:13-15 (emphasizing vv14-15; "sick" is Gk. word ἀσθενέω [as-then-E-ō], meaning: feeble, diseased, sick, weak) …for one another to be made whole after confessing sins and faults to each other because our flesh opposes such open humility and vulnerability. Why? See next point. James 5:16 (emphasizing v16a; "healed" is Gk. word ἰάομαι [ee-A-o-mī], meaning: cure, heal, or make whole) When we pray as above, it causes us to lean more firmly and faithfully upon Christ Jesus for His strength and cleansing power. This is why our flesh, the faithless world, and the foul minions of Satan hate Christ, hate God's grace, hate Christ's gospel. James 5:16 (emphasizing v16b; see Eph 6:10, 12; 1 Jn 1:9)

Devotional for Midweek Prayer Meeting * Pray… …for fellow believers to act honorably in all things, that their conscience will also be clear. Heb 13:18-19 (emphasizing v18) …for fellow believers whom you know to be away from fellowship for whatever reason, that they may be restored to fellowship with us. Heb 13:18-19 (emphasizing v19) …that our powerful God of peace equip fellow believers with every good thing needed to do God's will so that Christ is exalted and the Father is glorified. Heb 13:20-21 NOTE: This letter also concludes with the benediction, "Grace be with all of you" (Heb 13:25). As a prayer, this was covered in Lesson 22 on 6/14/23.
