In this parable about importunate prayer, we find a powerful man with the authority to help, but was unsympathetic to a helpless woman's request.
Learn four reasons why we must persevere in prayer when God does not answer.
The Church of Philadelphia: Commended
Sermon by Pastor Austin Huggins
Preached at FBCB, December 2023
Revelation 3:7–13 NASB95
7 "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this:
8 'I know your deeds. Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name.
9 'Behold, I will cause those of the synagogue of Satan, who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—I will make them come and bow down at your feet, and make them know that I have loved you.
10 'Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of dtesting, that hour which is about to come upon the whole eworld, to test those who dwell on the earth.
11 'I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
12 'He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name.
13 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'"
Here is more detail on the study of the Divine Yes in Christ. What has God done? We expand on the fact that God has anonited us, set his seal upon us and placed his Spirit in our hearts, guaranteeing what is to come. It is the indwelling Spirit who is your guarantee of the full redemption awaiting you on the Day of Christ.
Colossians chapter 1 will be our entire attention this Lord's day. In the morning we will begin with 1.1-8 and in the evening we will continue at 1.9-14. In both texts thanksgiving looms large. in the evening the perseverance in sanctification which God works will hold our attention and lead us to more thankfulness. Let's glory together this Sunday in what God has done and continues to do in our lives. Responsive Reading of Philippians 2.1-18

Sermon: "Thanksgiving #4: Gospel Perseverance"
Theme: Christians are mighty in thanksgiving for persevering believers
Persevering requires knowledge
Perseverance is defined as living a life worthy of the Lord
That "worthy life" is witnessed as a strong, powerful persevering
Thanks be to God who enables us by grace to such a life!
Many claim to believe in Jesus Christ, but do not hold fast to Him. They perhaps have said a prayer, but they fall prey to false teachings, are surprised by suffering and eventually they turn away from the Lord. Here the Apostle closes the letter with his personal autograph, again, encouraging the church by what he says in order that they may persevere in their faith to the very end!
Last time we learned that our job in this life is to get ourselves and the people around us ready for Judgment Day. But how are you supposed to do that? You can force someone to have faith in God. It's true you can't force faith, but you can grow it like a seed in a garden if you use the right tools. Today we'll discover what those tools are.

IS HELL REAL? 2 Thess. 1:3-12 Confident in the Face of Hard Questions. The Thessalonian believers had questions concerning the second coming of Jesus, which Paul had attempted to address in his first letter . However, these questions apparently persisted to the point that some believers were concerned the day of the Lord had already happened . Paul wrote his second letter in large part to correct this false idea 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 .Eternal punishment awaits those who do not follow Christ.God watches over His faithful FOLLOWERS. vv.3-7aThose who do not follow God will face eternal DESTRUCTION.vv.7b-10We are called and equipped to do GOOD and bring GLORY to God. vv.11-12Our faith is personal, but not private . Jesus established the church for our collective good and our collective growth . Since humans are relational by nature, our horizontal relationships should develop just as our vertical relationship with God does .Transformation is evident when relational maturity is evident .
For Christians Remembrance Sunday points us forward to the end of all war and strife, and the peace of the age to come. As we look at Revelation 21 we see the new creation, the consolation of hope, and the challenge to persevere and overcome.
