When asked, almost no one would identify themselves as an enemy of God. But by their deeds, a lot more people are either already an established enemy of the cross of Christ, or are in some transitional phase of becoming one. Today we will focus on the meaning of what a real enemy looks like, and what the cross, and the sacrifice it demands looks like as well.

Greg Price, on the Puritan Hard Drive (at http://bit.ly/ci3g2z) writes, 'If you want to understand Reformed theology (i.e., the whole counsel of God) the Puritan Hard Drive is unsurpassed, outside the Bible itself... There is no other resource, outside Scripture itself, where you can find so much of God's truth as in the Puritan Hard Drive.'

Years ago Ray Stedman preaced a sermon called "How to Kill a Lion in a Pit on a Snowy Day." Pastor Robert Rohlin heard that sermon when he met his worst possible opponent in the worst possible time under the worst possible circumstances. His opponent came when a doctor delivered some crusing news. God later healed Pastor Rohlin of that disease but the pastor has met his fare share of difficulties since then. This Scripture passage has become very real to him and he offers insights that take Stedman's original thoughts and go much deeper. If you have ever felt overwhelmed by opposition, take the time to listen to this sermon. Robert Rohlin is the administrative pastor at First Baptist Church Las Colinas -- a family integrated church in Irving, TX which is a member of the Baptist Missionary Association.
Some say the gospel is too simple - in its message of salvation. Our sins merited punishment, but this punishment was borne by Jesus Christ, in His death on the cross. Because we live in a so-called educated age people say this message surely has to be more complicated, and add other things to this wonderfully simple truth.
Those who would proclaim the true gospel have a great opponent, who still works powerfully in the world today, Satan himself. He works in a world, which is largely indifferent to the gospel.
Thankfully we have a great champion, Jesus Christ! Therefore do not despair - He comes to bring truth and reality, to deliver us, setting the sinner free. Christ has paid the atonement price, and sets the sinner free from the guilt of his sin. Satan is doomed - so don't listen to the opposition. Believe the gospel, the simple gospel, this very day.
In a very challenging set of verses, we find Paul responding to questions - from critics and opponents. What exactly was he saying? What precisely did it mean? We consider four questions in this sermon: (1) What is Paul doing here? (2) What are the introductory concerns? (3) What are the objections of the opposition? (4) What does this mean for us?
CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON ON READING
'As the apostle says to Timothy, so also he says to everyone, 'Give
yourself to reading.' He who will not use the thoughts of other men's
brains proves that he has no brains of his own. You need to read. Renounce as much as you will all light literature, but study as much as possible sound theological works, especially the Puritanic writers, and expositions of the Bible. The best way for you to spend your leisure is to be either reading or praying.'
