What I want to do in this particular message is to show you that the things that Job was suffering, according to his own words, were much like those of our Lord Jesus Christ. In doing this, I want to show you how Job's sufferings were something that Christ suffered under as well, in a greater way, so that Job would be forgiven of all of his sins, and established in his righteousness by and through Christ's grace. In relating these things, I believe that it will help us to see more of the reasons why God permits trials to take place in our lives. It is so that we might become more like the blessed Lord Jesus our Savior and Redeemer. Let me draw 3 comparisons between Job and Christ in their sufferings. In relating these things to you, it is my prayer that we will bring these truths of the greatness of Christ's redemption with us into the Lord's Supper and meditate upon them, to the encouragement and strengthening of our hearts.
During this year's Christmas season we are going to look at the four different accounts of Christ's birth. Each has something to add to our understanding. Some by what they say, sometimes by what they don't say. Join us today as we look at John's gospel and the coming of the Word.
Have you ever thought of writing a letter to your younger self? What would you say if you did? Would you keep things lighthearted or somber? Would you share something with yourself you wish you had heard when you were younger? What would it be? It this section, we can imagine the Teacher writing a letter to his younger self (Spoiler: he's not actually doing this, but the approach fits the tone). We'll walk with him as he leads us through what it means to walk with God in a fallen world.
Have You Ever Wondered? Have you ever wondered what God's love, wisdom, grace, and His Son have in common? Have you ever wondered how it is that what they have in common should affect our view and value on everything? Let's look in the word and talk about it. May these truths equip you with a discerning mind, courageous heart, and a tender spirit for His work and your race. A few bullet points from the transcription of this message. • Personalizing the Gospel and living by God's words. ◦ Pastor Nick Holden emphasizes the importance of personalizing the Gospel and reasoning from the Scriptures to make it clear and dear to believers' hearts. • The importance of selfless love. ◦ Paul emphasizes that not all love is equal, and the wrong kind of love can have severe consequences. ◦ He uses hypothetical scenarios to illustrate that even with great gifts like prophecy, knowledge, and faith, without the right kind of love, it's all meaningless. ◦ Pastor Nick emphasizes the importance of understanding God's definition of love, rather than relying on personal interpretations. ◦ He encourages listeners to seek God's truth and wisdom to see things from His perspective, rather than their own. ◦ Love that never fails is rooted in God and manifested through Christ, rejoicing in truth rather than evil. • Wisdom and love in the Bible. ◦ God describes wisdom as excellent and right things that come from His lips, tied to love and divine characteristics. ◦ Wisdom and love cannot rejoice in iniquity or wickedness, they are an abomination to both. • Grace, iniquity, and living a godly life… #nestingwithjesus #acts5and20 #james3 #1thessalonians1 #1thessalonians2 #1corinthians
