By works of the law, we will not be justified. Christ delivers us from sin, converting us in form, character, and function to make us new in character, more like Christ.

Ephesians 4:32 -- Learning to forgive if you're a Christian, seeking and granting forgiveness are not optional. So what does it mean to forgive one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you?

Faithful Unto All Generations: The servants of David were embarrassed by the Ammonites. The king sent them to Jericho to heal but left then with the prerequisite to return. They had to get back into their duty for the king. For the believer, he may be embarrassed, but he can find healing with God. But he must also return to the post God has given him to hold.

When we are sinned against – and especially when that sin is extra hurtful or harmful – we struggle to forgive. It feels like we're just "letting them off the hook" for what they did. How will they ever learn their lesson if we don't teach them? Shouldn't they have to pay? What does it even mean to forgive someone, given that some things are impossible to forget?

It is amazing how our thoughts affect our demeanor. Our thoughts can lead us to anger, sadness, bitterness, joy, peace, patience, etc. Think back last night. When you woke up, what were you thinking? Was it a good thought? A song? A nightmare? A worry? We spend much of our time trying to eat right, exercise, sleep enough, work more, etc. But how much time to we really spend thinking and praying to God? Doing things for others? Or are we just thinking about ourselves?

Intro to Jonah, then chapters 1 & 2.

In the early days of His Galilean ministry, Jesus made it clear through His acts that He is the Christ, the Son of God — just as Mark 1:1 states. Jesus heals, cleanse, and forgives.

There aren't many people today who have forgiveness in their hearts for those who have wronged them. God expects us to forgive those who have wronged us. Too many times we feel justified in our anger and pride. We aren't deserving of God's forgiveness but if we are born again, He forgave us.

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord: This is a chapter of praise! The Jews praised God because he rescued them from the pit of rebellion and the pit of idolatry and established them as his bride and took care of them as they travelled from Egypt to Canaan. God then established them in Canaan, giving them protected cities, free houses, animals they did not raise, vineyards and orchards they did not plant, and wells they did not dig. Yet they jumped into the pit of provocation and the pit of pride in Canaan! Among other things, they intermarried with non-believers and acted as if their accomplishments were of their own making. This provoked God's anger and he sent them at various times into captivity. And yet, every time they ended in captivity and called on God, he forgave them and re-established them as his own…so great was his love. We conclude this chapter seeing the Israelites praise God for his faithfulness in spite of their sins of pit-jumping. Our headings are: God was faithful in the Past God, be faithful in the Present God, we will be faithful in the Future Our goals are: That you will be quick to ask for forgiveness if you fall into a pit, and you will then praise God for his faithfulness to forgive – a forgiveness that comes to you through Christ your Savior.

We all get angry. Jesus got angry 3 times that I can find in the Bible. Selling in the temple at the beginning and end of His ministry and the "withered hand" incident. However, He did not sin. We on the other hand will normally sin when we get angry. How does the Bible instruct us to deal with our anger? God's Word will work every time. Settle your anger before you go to bed tonight.
