This sermon opens up the meaning of purity of heart, and the way that manifests itself in a committed Christian life. The sermon includes a section on the popular evangelical book EMBRACING THE JOURNEY showing how it fails to mention the most important command connected with the Kingdom of God. The message will challenge you not to be Mr. Facing Both Ways in our increasingly anti-Christian culture.

Word of Life Church - John 1:9-11
Jesus as the Light of the world not understood and even rejected not only by most of an ungodly world but even by His own.
The story of the Samaritan woman at the well shows us the all-embracing scope of the gospel, and teaches us to use our circumstances to be evangelistically available to the world.
Her Perception

West Side Baptist Church - Matthew 11:28-30
Pastor Josh brings some context and insights into Christ's yoke.

West Side Baptist Church - Ephesians 2:8
Pastor Josh teaches us what faith is in the believer's relationship with Christ.

Christ is real and He is the only real hope of peace and reconciliation in our world.
It is easy for us to forget that the Gospel identifies and corrects every problem.
Either we are addressing our problems through the Gospel or we are not; there is no middle ground.
a. Saying we believe the Gospel is simply not enough
b. Actually, putting the Gospel into action brings reconciliation and unity
c. Denying this truth is really self-deception
d. Embracing this truth leads to boldness and courage
To attempt to solve problems any other way is an indication that we are not in fellowship with God.

The multiple ways faith expresses itself in the Christian life and why God requires faith of us as believers.

It is surprising how frequently we attempt to live godly lives without faith. (The Problem)
Faith has always been the required prerequisite for embracing the things of God. (The Correction)
a. The very origins of mankind must be taken by faith.
b. Our divine connection with God must be taken by faith.
c. Our daily walk with God must be taken by faith.
d. Our eternal destiny must be taken by faith.
You simply cannot be saved without faith. (The Follow-Through)

Puritan Hard Drive at http://ow.ly/fPY4o
If you love the Bible, then you may well be Reformed. If you think of yourself as Reformed, but you have seldom or have never read older Reformed literature, prepare to be challenged. The Puritan Hard Drive provides primary sources and depth of theological and spiritual insight which is lacking in much of what is passed off as genuine Reformed theology. If you think of yourself as conservative, the older Puritan and Reformed authors will help you sort reality from myth in your quest to be truly Reformed. There are more solid resources for less money here than anywhere else. I highly recommend you take responsibility for your soul and spend a few shekels for this cup of cold water in the midst of the modern religious desert.

If you want to understand Reformed theology (i.e., the whole counsel of God) the Puritan Hard Drive is unsurpassed, outside the Bible itself. The First and Second Reformations gave us the most faithful Scriptural teaching and preaching since the time of the Apostles, and there is no other resource, outside Scripture itself, where you can find so much of God's truth as in the Puritan Hard Drive (http://ow.ly/fPY4o).
May the Lord continue to use this most profitable tool to promote a Third Reformation that encompasses the whole world (Isaiah 2:2-4)!

To embrace is to bring someone close to yourself, and to hold them close to yourself for a very specific purpose and reason. It may be for a moment; it may be for a lifetime. But something very real and definite is being conveyed in an embrace, and we ought to be able to be understand, when we are embracing someone, what is happening. And, we ought to be able to understand what it means when someone is embracing us. Sometimes we do; and sometimes we don’t. Our verse says that there is a time for embracing, and also that there is a time to refrain from embracing. There are reasons for embracing and there are reasons to refrain from it, and so every Christian should know and have that holy sense about them to know what is the right time and the right place for both. So this is what we want to briefly examine here together this afternoon. We will look 1st – At the time for embracing. And then 2nd – We will follow that up with looking at when it is not the time for embracing. And then 3rd, we will draw a few conclusions.
Paul before the Greek Supreme Court

In the Scriptures we are given many good verses which help us to understanding better what faith is, and how much we need to exercise it. This morning we want to look at the exercise and acts of faith.

Some wanted to exterminate Christ
Some wanted to embrace Christ
Knowing that there are many who want to exterminate Christ and his message in this world, does your life that was changed by his almighty power, convince men of Christ’s existence and blessing? Has your life been transformed without doubt?
Knowing that there are many who want to exterminate Christ and his message in this world, do you use your lips to refute their false claims, so that men are without excuse? Do you defend the faith? Can you argue for the claims of the Bible?
What will encourage you to use your lips and lives to honor Christ? You must remember his love that made him die for you on the cross.

Digging in the Word Ministries - Mark 10:16
The person who does the best job of embracing us is Jesus. He wants to hold us. There are things that are looking to stop this from happening though. People who mean well can even get in the way. Jesus wants us to come to Him like children and just enjoy what is there. When we are hurt or wounded run to the Master. No matter the reason we come, Jesus wants to hold us. All we have to do is come. Do you need to feel His embrace?

'I was one of those who had profited much from using the plethora of out-of-print Reformation materials offered by Still Waters Revival Books in the 62 CDs (Puritan CDs and Reformation CDs)...
With the CDs, it took a little while to go to the index of each set, locate the documents I needed, and then find the correct CD. Of course, the time was always well spent in finding that particular document that I needed.
However, now that I have the Puritan Hard Drive (http://ow.ly/fPY4o), I am able to use my time much more efficiently in finding that particular document I need by quickly searching for it and finding it in a matter of seconds. It's like going from 'dial up' to 'high-speed' Internet!
And for all of those documents that have a font that are in block letters, I am able to simply cut and paste from the Puritan Hard Drive to my own document with ease. ...

Since we belong to Christ, we must not judge or despise one another. When we realize that another believer is the special, prized possession of the Lord Jesus Christ, we will be much protected against the darkness of division in our midst. The focus in the difference will not be upon who has more or less faith, but rather upon the fact that we share a common faith in the same Lord Who has redeemed us unto Himself together. This focus on our unity in Christ will grant us peace and joy together, even in the midst of differences that exist because of varying levels of faith.

Reformation Covenant Church - Genesis 2:20-25

The past has a profound effect on our present situation. Therefore there are things back there that we need to overcome. Racism is one of those things that keeps popping up; and it will also bring along it's close cousin prejudice. There bring hurt to us on the mental and spiritual level. Past relationships can also comeback to hurt us. The religious crowd has even caused hurt to come our way from time to time. These past hurts cause us to become too cautious in moving forward. But there is good news Messiah has come! Jesus hasn't come to put a band aid on it but to heal the hurt if we will let Him. Part of that power to overcome is to share the healing with the same people who have hurt us. A testimony of others who have overcome is powerful help to overcome the hurt of the past. Past hurts want to make us battle them, but Jesus is the one we should send to deal with it verses embracing the hurt and making it worse.

Harvest Baptist Temple - Deuteronomy 6:1-9
The greatest unit we have in this country is the family unit. We need to start teaching our families the importence of living like Christ. The family is the backbone of any country and by the values of the family is how well the country will do. Pastor Lewis gives us a great instructional serman on the family and the values that are to be taught in the family.

This book contains in fact not only a clear and cogent presentation of the Reformed Doctrine of Predestination but of all the great distinctive doctrines of the Reformed Faith. The objections commonly urged against Calvinism are not only fairly stated but adequately answered.
The practical importance of Calvinism is stressed. The chapter on Calvinism in history will prove illuminating to many (Christianity Today).

CHARLES HADDON SPURGEON ON READING
'As the apostle says to Timothy, so also he says to everyone, 'Give
yourself to reading.' He who will not use the thoughts of other men's
brains proves that he has no brains of his own. You need to read.
Renounce as much as you will all light literature, but study as much
as possible sound theological works, especially the Puritanic
writers, and expositions of the Bible. The best way for you to spend
your leisure is to be either reading or praying.'
