Set Apart: In the Way we live.2 John 1:1-9 Series: Set Apart: A Life Lived for God. No matter who we are, no matter what we have done, no matter how terrible we have been, we are loved by Christ. But, in addition to Christ, it means that there are others, a multitude of people, who love us. All of God's elect, all of His holy and beloved followers, love us. No matter how unloved we may feel, how lonely and empty, there is a multitude of people who love us just as Christ loves us.Why we are to love one another. We are to love for the truth's sake, that is, for the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ and of the Word of God. There are many teachers, ministers and laymen alike, who would like to be progressive and creative, to come up with a novel idea, to make some advancement in thought. They want people to recognize and approve of them; therefore, they try to impress people. In so doing, they go beyond Christ and what He taught. They twist or branch off from the teachings of Christ. John warns against this: if a person does not stay in the teachings of Christ, then he does not have God. He is not saved; he is not truly born of God. The only person who is born of God is the person who stays in the teachings of Christ. This does not mean that believers are not to be creative and thoughtful. It means that we must not move out beyond Christ and what He taught.
Christian Liberty, a small series in Romans. What you see or are taught in scripture may not always be the same as what someone else, understands. We should all see Doctrine pretty much the same, but in this series let us keep an open mind while we try to care more about others.
In the 2nd part of our look at the relationship of God the Father and Christ, we see the importance of being teachable and holding Scripture as our sole source of truth for heavenly things, and not allowing traditions or creeds to keep our hearts closed to the Spirit.

The Doctrine of the Bondage of the Will and Total Depravity is a much neglected subject today. If we go wrong in our understanding of sin and its effects in fallen man - we will go wrong in almost all other areas of Doctrine. Follow the link.
Foundations Class #3 of 8
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
...even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
2 Peter 1:1
"Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:"
