When Paul stared death in the eye, it was so that he could trust God more. We learn that God is able to deliver in the past, present and future, with our ultimate deliverance in the resurrection. Never under estimate prayer, for it is God's means of allowing us to work with Him in fulfilling His purposes and plans for His glory.

in this sermon, we continue to follow Stephen's defense against the accusations of his accusers. Stephen uses the histroy of the nation of Israel in his defense. WE should be able to recite the history of Israel as did Joseph.
Christ was delivered to be crucified according to the gracious will and purpose of God the Father. Pilate wrote the reason for his crucifixion and put it on the cross. Christ was crucified because he is The King of the Jews. The Jews who rejected Christ wanted Pilate to change it. But the man who bent to every desire of the Jews up until that point refused their request now. God determined that all men should know exactly why his Son was crucified. He is The King of the Jews! There are many comforting truths that are declared to Sinners in the title and superscription written above the head of Christ. It was put there by the determinate will of God for a crown of glory upon the head of our King.
The layout of this chapter reveals three spiritual blessings the Believer receives in Christ:
First, the foundation of all our blessings is obtained and given in the blood redemption of Jesus Christ.
Second, is that Christ reveals his witness of faith in his new creation.
Third, God gives his child assurance in Christ alone.
21 Then Moses called all the elders of Israel and said to them, "Go and select lambs for yourselves according to your clans, and kill the Passover lamb. 22 Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. None of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning. 23 For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you. 24 You shall observe this rite as a statute for you and for your sons forever. 25 And when you come to the land that the Lord will give you, as he has promised, you shall keep this service. 26 And when your children say to you, 'What do you mean by this service?' 27 you shall say, 'It is the sacrifice of the Lord's Passover, for he passed over the houses of the people of Israel in Egypt, when he struck the Egyptians but spared our houses.'" And the people bowed their heads and worshiped.
28 Then the people of Israel went and did so; as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn
29 At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the livestock. 30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he and all his servants and all the Egyptians. And there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where someone was not dead. 31 Then he summoned Moses and Aaron...
The blameless in Christ are delivered out of the hands of the enemy because Jesus bled and died for their sins. The deliverance of Daniel out of the dark den of lions without scratch pictures for us the deliverance Christians have from sin and Satan.
The Father, Son and Holy Ghost call Sinners to come into the ark of salvation freely given in Christ. To those who hear it, it is an effectual and gracious call. To those who refuse and will not trust Christ, they will die in their sins under the wrath of God. Why will you die in your sins? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
