In David's rise to prominence in Israelite society there was a fulfillment of the blessing pronounced on Boaz, a preparation of David for his role as shepherd of God's people, and a prefiguration of Christ.

Domain is the first foundational stone in being a godly man. Men are created by God to take domain. First of their own inadequacies in the flesh, then in the church, then in the home, and finally in the community. This was established at the beginning of time when God gave Adam domain, saying "The LORD put the man into the garden of Eden to cultivate and to keep it." God charges all men to work (think plow) and to keep or defend (think sword). Working and defending are at the core of manhood. When men work and defend their garden, under the Lordship of Jesus and the filling of His Spirit, they bear the image of God and lay the first foundational stone for godly manhood.

When you need deliverance from evil events or enemies, depend on God who can deliver you.

The Truth has been Under Attack during modern times. We need to know, guard, proclaim, and pass the truth on to the next generation. I. Remember that the Church is the ground and pillar OF THE TRUTH. II. Every believer is an AMBASSADOR FOR THE TRUTH. III. Every believer is a SOLDIER FOR THE TRUTH. IV. Every believer must stand for - and defend the truth.

We're in the final part of Acts and Paul's journey to Jerusalem then to Rome (chapters 21–28). The Holy Spirit has led Paul to Jerusalem to be arrested and led to Caesarea to be tried. We hear his fifth and final defense before King Herod Agrippa II sometime in AD 59 or 60. PAUL DEFENDS HIS HOPE WHY WAS HE WILLING TO DIE FOR HIS HOPE? APPLICATION FOR US: DOES THE WORLD NEED THIS HOPE?

DEFEND THE GOSPEL --- Gal 2:11-14 INTRODUCTION THE INERRANT GOSPEL COMPROMISED BY THE CHURCH (v11-13) a. Infallible gospel but not invincible believers. b. Peter succumbed to the pressures of man. v11-12 c. Many, including Barnabas, Paul's missionary companion, also caved in. v13  Believers, set your mind on God's interests, not man's. Matt 16:23 Christ's warning: He urges us to watch and pray. Matt 26:41 ERRANT GOSPEL CONDUCT CORRECTED BY THE CHURCH (v14) a. In the driver's seat but not irrevocable. b. Peter's conduct inconsistent with his belief. v14b c. Paul censured his fellow apostle and those who took the same position. v14a  Believers, stand up for the truth, even though you stand alone. Christ's example: He stood alone against His accusers. Matt 26:56 THE INERRANT GOSPEL CHAMPIONED BY THE CHURCH a. Imperfect church but not an incompetent protector. b. Peter in Acts 15:6-11 is different compared to the Peter in v12.  Believers, stand up again for the truth, even though you fail again. Christ's assurance: He is always with us. Matt 28:20  Unbelievers, Christ did not come to save the perfect, but He perfects those He saves. Christ's mission: He came to call sinners to repentance. Matt 9:12 CONCLUSION

Are you quick at defending yourself? Have you put your rights to death? All believers need to understand how to handle criticism in their own life. God honors us when we go through criticism by listening and following the leading of the Holy Spirit, instead of defending self by puffing up the flesh.

The Lord Jesus teaches that in the last days, his people must keep themselves unspotted from the world and be ready for the sudden appearing of the Son of Man.

Little is known about Ahaziah except his fall and injury. When God tells him through Elijah that he will not recover, he attempts to silence the prophet, permanently. God, however, once again uses fire to show that He alone is God, the God of Israel!

Get In God's Presence Early! Psalms 5:1-12;James 3:5-8 David may have written it during the crisis caused by Absalom, but we have no indication that he did. However, the description of David's enemies given in verses 4-6 and 9-10 suggests the period prior to David's flight from Jerusalem. "In the morning" is repeated in verse 3 for emphasis. It stresses that his first thoughts each day were prayer. In this prayer of David, the Holy Spirit, the great Inspirer of Scripture, shows us what to do when we are lied about and slandered. It stands as a timeless pattern for us to follow as long as we live in a wicked, sin-cursed world. This is, How to Deal with Lies and Slander."The first hour of your day sets the tone for the entire day. How you spend that hour determines — more than anything else — how your day will end." It means getting up a little earlier than you have to. It means filling your mind first thing with his word, and filling your heart with praise. It means offering your entire day to him — giving him control of each event, allowing him to direct you each step of the way. This habit gets you moving in the right direction, and keeps you moving forward no matter what the day may bring.

In Isaiah 38:1-39:8, we witness Hezekiah responding with opposite character traits to 2 earlier events (preceding chs. 36-37), which lead to opposite outcomes. I. Hezekiah responds to a sickness leading to death with humility, which leads to his healing and a longer life. A. Hezekiah faces death and prays to Yahweh (38:1-3). B. Yahweh answers his prayer with deliverance and fifteen more years of life (38:4-8). C. Hezekiah writes a psalm of thanksgiving (38:9-22). II. Hezekiah responds to visiting envoys from Babylon with pride, which results in future captivity for his people. A. Envoys from Babylon visit Hezekiah (39:1). B. Hezekiah reveals all his wealth (39:2). C. Isaiah visits Hezekiah: Isaiah asks questions (39:3). Hezekiah gives answers (39:4). Yahweh of Hosts speaks judgment (39:5-7). Hezekiah responds (39:8).

Is the Christian faith a blind and baseless hope? Or are there many infallible proofs and clear arguments for it? Whilst we rely on Christ alone to open the heart, Peter teaches us we should be ready, to give reasons for the certain hope that is within us. We look at the evidences for this certain hope.
