The birth of John the Baptist foreshadowed the birth of Christ, in order to bring sinners back to God. Eagerly desiring the arrival of a child. (v.5-17) Humbly being corrected by the Lord. Providence is defined in the Bible-based Heidelberg Catechism, Q&A 27 and 28. The Questions: 27: "What do you understand by the providence of God? 28: "What does it profit us to know that God created and by His providence upholds all things?" The answers, as Kevin Pulliam reads and expounds, show our need to trust and rest in what God brings our way.

The pastorate is a dangerous calling but it is also an honorable calling. Paul gives Timothy four key instructions regarding the compensation, protection , correction and selection of a pastor.

The work of building up God's church requires accountability. Living in community means that we have to help each other along the path of sanctification. That means that encouraging correction is required. However, the correction must be carried out with a sense of family in mind.

Pastor teaches his family a selection from "the Proverb of the day." In these five verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that parents are to give God's covenant children God's own Fatherly instruction to be their heart's counselor and companion for life.
