Solomon executed the Lord's will justly and swiftly. There is much for us to learn in these 10 verses.

When we fail to trust God, sin, suffering, and shame will result.

And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king's sons come: as thy servant said, so it is. In this expository sermon Dr. Felker expounds the psalmist's call to give thanks for the Lord for His goodness, steadfast covenant love, and for the way He redeems or rescues His people from their troubles. He gives four dramatic examples of such redemption. We also should thank God for His grace because so often we bring such troubles on ourselves.

Wickedness would certainly bring God's judgment to the house of Eli, but judgment would not be God's last word.

It's a sad thing when the actions of unbelievers put the actions of professing followers of God to shame. That's the case in Jonah 1:8-13. In this sermon, Pastor Jesse walks us through the consequences Jonah and his pagan shipmates experience because of his rebellious disobedience... and Jonah's lack of repentance even in the midst of those consequences. You'll see the stark contrast in how the pagan sailors respond to Yahweh and in how Jonah the rebel prophet responds, and you'll be reminded of the dangers of going against God - and of your need to worship and submit to Him.

From James chapter two, verses five through eleven, Kevin Pulliam explores the biblical warning against partiality, of excluding from fellowship others who we may not find impressive or desireable by worldly standards. Encouragement is given to rather to love all in the church equally.

David committed grave sin when he had an adulterous affair with Bathsheba and then had her husband killed to cover it up. God forgave him, but that forgiveness did not take away the consequences of his sin.
