The lesson of this text is easier to grasp than the illustration itself: "Cast your bread upon the waters, For you will find it after many days" (Ecc 11:1). Applying this principle to gospel labours, we take the command issued, we embrace the comfort provided, and we consider the counsels implied.

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

As we get older and older this body loses its physical strength. As we age, we have to rely on God even more. We must have the faith to believe that God can do what we ask. When the enemy is all around God says, "I can prepare a table." We can't get anything from God without faith in Him.

The Lord gives us a picture of the ministration of the gospel word to feed, nourish and refresh the people of God. All whom the Lord brings into his local assemblies are to be given the gospel word. It is under the declaration of Christ crucified that the weary sinner finds rest from their labors and forgiveness of sins.

What is the body of Jesus Christ? What are the members of the body of Jesus Christ? Why did God not give all members the same gifts? This section of scripture describes is the human body as a metaphor the body of Jesus Christ. Paul has just answered the Corinthians' questions regarding the gifts of the Holy Ghost how they are divided among the church yet work together to unify and edify the whole church. Now Paul is answering questions about the importance or station of each member of the church in relation to the other members of the church.

The last request of Jesus before He died was that we keep the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Him. II. The reason He asked us to observe the Lord's Supper is because He wanted us to remember Him. He knew how apt selfish people would be to forget Him and his great sacrifice for us. He knew that people would focus on other things about him rather than on his shed blood, his broken body, and his death. The Lord's Supper is designed to draw us away from our selfish tendency to make Jesus our genie in a bottle, or our guardian angel, or our good luck charm, instead of the One who died for our sins.

The temptation and triumph of Jesus not only proves He is Israel's Messiah-King, it also lays down a pattern of faithfulness for all children of God to follow.

As we continue to study the Lord's Supper, the second ordinance given to the church, we look at some instructions given to us out of 1 Corinthians concerning this ordinance.

Brothers and Sisters in the Lord: Jesus described himself with 7 "I am statements." The "I am" statements prove his Deity. "I am" is the same root of Yahweh, which means "I am," or "I exist." This was how Jesus revealed himself to Moses at the burning bush -that pivotal time in human history when God re-established his covenant relationship with the whole nation. This name invoked confidence in who God is…his ability to rescue Israel from hell and take them to Canaan. For that claim of being God the Jews tried to kill him. Today we will start with the first I AM: "I am the bread of life." Our headings are: How is Jesus the Bread of Life What are the implications of the Bread of Life for your life Our goals are: That you will learn to feast on the Lord and share of his goodness so the world can be saved.

Jesus said that the manna the children of Israel ate in the wilderness was not bread from heaven. The Fathers ate it and are dead. That manna was corruptible, because it would breed worms if they tried to keep it overnight. Everything we eat is dead bread, but Jesus is the LIVING bread come down from heaven. We eat our dead bread and die, but if we eat the Living Bread from heaven we will never die. The audio failed to record this message which was a great grief to us.
