How can a sinner come near to God and be pleasing to Him? Leviticus 1:3–17 looks forward to the evening sermon on the coming Lord's Day. In these fifteen verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that the Lord provides a substitute, consecrated by blood and transformed by fire, in which the worshiper ascends unto heaven, and by whose blood the worship on earth is consecrated as well.

Sermon on the Ascension of Christ

The Apostle Paul wrote we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and dominions - against spiritual wickedness in high places. The purpose of Satan, from the beginning was to attempt to take Jesus' rightful place on the throne of God, but he cannot and will not! In the end, God wins and Satan loses. Furthermore, the devil does not have any power over a spirit-filled Jesus follower! In Isaiah 14, Satan lays out his desire to be like the Most High. In Ezekiel 28, God answers the devil by reminding him God created him and gave him his place on the mountain of the LORD, not the other way around. This is an important lesson for every believer!

We do not know Jesus' first words as a baby but we do know the first words he spoke and to whom he spoke them on the morning of his resurrection!

Jesus told Nicodemus "Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" and "That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit" and that the Spirit is as the wind. Nicodemus' reply was "How can these things be?"

In the ascension of Christ, we learn about our King. His timing. (v.1-7) His witnesses. (v.8) His plans. (v.9-11) Applying: How does it feel to have a king? When does the Lord do things? Rom 5:6 and 2 Peter 3:9 Where must we bear witness? Matthew 10:18 What does God have in store for us? Jeremiah 29:11-13

Psalm 24 has its ultimate fulfillment in the Ascension and Coronation of Christ. The Gospel of Christ is told in Psalm 24, as we see how righteousness is received from Christ through Him being the Creator King, the Incarnate King, and the Conquering King. Resurrection Week 2022 - He is Risen! - John 20. Throughout this week, we have followed Jesus and His disciples from the Upper Room, out to the Garden, through His betrayal, denial, illegal trial, and execution. After the crucifixion the disciples fled and hid in fear. But then it was Sunday. The women went about the business of going to prepare the body of Jesus for final burial…but His body was not in the borrowed tomb. Had He already been moved?

The unifying of the brethren is so important . We must be sanctified for the service of the Lord! The scripture must be fulfilled. He came to deliver His people from their sins so that their would be unity.. The Lord died for the church.

Psalm 24 is a wonderful picture of Christ's Kingship and His sovereignty over all of creation. It speaks to Christ's holiness and to His glory.
